The Reds of February

Quinacridone Red, Cadmium Red, Anthrequinoid Red, Quinacridone Coral, Alizarin crimson, Scarlette Lake, Carmine, etc...Fifty Shades of Red adorn a painter's palette.  Add New Gamboge, bismuth Yellow, Cadmium Yellow, Naples Yellow, Lemon Yellow, etc...Fifty Shades of Yellow combine to make orange hues.  Painting a red hibiscus is a challenge for this watercolor artist as it explodes on paper.  Fifty Shades of Green compliment the reds and are the cool colors in this limited palette.  It pleases the eye and appeals to the aesthetic value of the painting.  Look for the reds in your landscape and warm up to their embrace.  Spring is just around the corner!
